PTC @ Harihar Biotech-Agra

Harihar Biotech owns a state of the art two-acre campus at the city of Taj, Agra, with an annual capacity of two million plants. Presently, We are engaged in tissue culture of Grand-naine variety banana, Gerbera, Carnation and Stevia. Harihar Biotech specializes in micro propagation of flowering, medicinal, temperate green foliages and horticultural products, in over 10,000-sq.ft area, which includes,

     Growth chambers
      Post sterilization room
      Media preparation
      Dispatch room

We maintain a strict periodical validation of our clean area and conduct particle count tests twice in a year. Our growth rooms are maintained hygienically and our staffs are trained to keep a vigilant eye on the infections and remove them with immediate effect.

The laboratory has been designed with international standards and equipments.

Our green house area consist of more than 6000 sq.ft with a hardening facility of more than 1,00,000 plants at a time.

Plant Tissue Culture - An Introduction

Plant Tissue Culture (PTC) is a scientific practice to culture and propagate plants under sterile environment, to produce clones of high yielding plants. Tissue cultured plants are much superior to their normal vegetative cultivate counterpart plants, which are either produced through seeds of by cutting methods.

There are three main steps to the tissue culture process:

STAGE I is the initiation phase. It concerns the establishment of c8ulture in vitro by sterilising the material.

STAGE II is the multiplication phase. At this stage, the in vitro culture is re-divided and placed in a agar based medium with plant growth regulators that induce shoots multiplications. This process is repeated many times (also known as cycles) until the number of plants desired is reached.

STAGE III is the rooting phase. It involves introduction of hormones to induce rooting and the formation of complete plantlets.
