In Last Two Decades, Biotechnology is one of the most talked sector in terms of generating new Employment Opportunities in India, and was thought to impact everyone’s life in a big way.
Through this article I am summarizing my experiences with the Sector, as I am fortunate to witness the immergence of this sector – both worldwide and in India; and is now well position to put my views and predict the “Future of Biotechnology“, at least for next three decades. These predictions are very useful for Generation Z in deciding and building their future career in biological sciences.
Exploring Last 25 Years of Biological Advances – Revisiting Past
AN OVER CALCULATED & OVER HYPED SECTOR ?
We jump start this century with decoding Human Genome Project and inventing technologies like Organism Cloning, Stem Cell Culture and many more; which all together capable to create a strong Buzz among masses and claimed to be a game changer. Worldwide intellectuals esp. newspaper editors & Hollywood directors claimed too much with theses advances.
As a result of this buzz, in India between 2005 – 2010 we saw an immense rise in opening of University / College Biotechnology Departments, offering various courses in this stream to fulfill the needs of aspirants. Biotechnology was popularized as the second largest job creating platform just after Computer Science. Millions of students opted for various biotechnology courses irrespective of understanding the nature of this technology stream. As a result we saw a huge disappointment among masses
